“In my 50 plus year performing and teaching career this is the ONLY time I have ever had the courage to conduct a score without the music. I was leaving my chair in the cafeteria to go forward in May of 2016 and conduct the percussion ensemble of Flowery Branch High School where I had been on the faculty for a couple of years. I was carrying the large awkward score of Blue Rondo a La Turk, a song written by Dave Brubeck and arranged for a full percussion ensemble.”– Jack Bell
